Who We Are

Driving Real Impact: NTI’s Approach to ESG

At NTI, we know that being a great insurance provider means more than offering cover and settling claims. It means supporting our customers, industry partners, and communities.  That’s why Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles are a key part of how we do business.

Supporting a More Sustainable Industry

Transport and logistics are changing, and we’re working alongside industry to help shape a more sustainable future. As well as monitoring trends from the sidelines—we’re on the ground, supporting those making the transition to zero-emission vehicles, exploring and improving repair practices, and continuing to explore long-term sustainability initiatives within our own business and with partners.

When it comes to environmental responsibility, our goal is to lead by example. We demonstrates this actively by deploying environment best practices operationally for big ticket items like lower emission vehicles for our repair management team who are on the round daily. To smaller ticket items like separated waste in our office to contribute to a lower emissions footprint for the buildings we work from.

Across our claim supply chain we are working with our network to understand what is best practice. That might look like repairing a vehicle instead of replacing it, reducing waste, or it might be supporting better infrastructure and practices that reduce emissions and improve efficiency across supply chains. We know that small, smart changes can have a big impact over time—and we want to be part of that.

Putting People First

Our people, our customers, and our communities are at the heart of NTI. Social responsibility isn't a box we tick—it’s something we live and breathe.

We support mental health and wellbeing across the industry through initiatives like Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds, and we provide access to trauma support for drivers and customers after major incidents. We also continue to invest in wellbeing for our own team, because caring for our people starts from within.

One cause that’s especially close to us is Motor Neurone Disease (MND). For more than a decade, we’ve proudly supported MND awareness and fundraising through the MND and Me Foundation, including our well-known truck restoration raffles, which have raised millions for MND research and support services. It’s a legacy we’re proud to carry forward, in honour of our former CEO Wayne Patterson.

In 2024, we launched our Reconciliation Action Plan.  As a proudly Australian business, we understand the importance of acknowledging, respecting and including the many different cultures and heritages that make up our country.  This includes acknowledging the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first inhabitants of this land.

We also know that helping people means supporting safer workplaces. Through CoRsafe by NTI, we provide practical, industry-specific tools to help businesses meet their Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations. CoRsafe is built for consignors, transport operators and more —delivering simple, effective safety systems that make a real difference across the supply chain in keeping people safe.

Leading with Accountability

Governance isn’t the flashiest part of ESG—but it’s essential. For us, it’s about doing what we say we’ll do and holding ourselves to high standards, always. That includes strong internal oversight, clear decision-making processes, and a deep commitment to ethical, transparent conduct across all areas of our business. One way we back this up with action is measuring our Modern Slavery footprint every year by reviewing the supply chain that sits behind our material suppliers. This enables us to monitor, measure and appropriately mitigate high risk suppliers.

We’re also focused on risk—understanding it, managing it, and helping others do the same. Whether it’s through our specialist risk engineers, partnerships with industry associations and governing bodies, or our National Truck Accident Research Centre (NTARC) partnership with NRSPP and MUARC, we’re working to create safer, stronger outcomes for our customers and the broader industry.

Always Moving Forward

Our ESG journey is ongoing. We’re proud of the steps we’ve taken so far, and we’re committed to learning, improving, and doing more—because doing the right thing isn’t a destination, it’s a direction.

At NTI, we keep Australia moving—and we’re committed to doing it in a way that sustainably supports people and builds a stronger future for everyone.
